Light and Dark: How We Love

I am the dawn, the breath of gold,
Rising where the night grows old,
I paint the sky in fragile flame,
Yet every morning feels the same-
For though I glow and call the day,
I know the dark has slipped away.

I love her not despite her shade,
But for the quiet she has made,
For in her arms the world can rest,
Unburdened hearts within her chest.
She keeps the stars where dreams can grow,
While I am loud with all I show.

She comes when I begin to fade,
Soft-footed, calm, in twilight laid,
And as I sink beyond the hill,
She meets me there, unspoken still.
No jealousy between our roles-
We share the keeping of all souls.

She is the pause, I am the start,
Two rhythms of a single heart,
Where I reveal, she teaches trust,
Where I am certain, she is must.
I light the path so eyes can see,
She guards the truths that long to be.

In her, the broken learn to mend,
In me, the weary rise again,
She wraps the world in velvet slow,
I wake the seeds she lets me sow.
We do not war, we do not fight-
We trade the sky with perfect right.

When lovers whisper in the dark,
I wait beyond the morning spark,
And when they kiss beneath my glow,
She waits where softer moments go.
For love needs shadow, love needs sight,
Love breathes between the dark and light.

I have chased her across the years,
Through setting suns and fading fears,
And every time I think her gone,
She waits for me in dusk or dawn.
We are not bound by place or name,
We circle endlessly the same.

So call me bright, and call her deep,
Call me the voice, and her the sleep,
But know this truth, steady and sure:
Our love is ancient, wide, and pure.
For neither one alone is whole-
Together, we become the soul.

And when the world asks which is true,
The light they see or dark they fear,
We answer not with words or might,
But with the turning of the light-
A dance eternal, soft, profound,
Where love itself keeps spinning round.
