Threshold of Enough

I do not need to earn the right to breathe,

Or fold my flaws to fit another's creed,

To win the prize or serve a useful part,

To claim the simple quiet of my heart.

I am enough, just as my shadows fall,

Unvarnished, tender, human through it all.

!!***!!

Let me look back  the roads I crossed,

And thank the heavy winters for the frost,

Yet drop the ancient weights I used to bear-

The hollow rules, the whispers of despair.

The past is holy ground, but not a cage;

With clean, untroubled hands, I turn the page.

!!***!!

No more I wait for validation's sun,

Or measure worth by battles lost or won;

I love what was, yet loose its binding chain,

And shape tomorrow from the calm and rain.
