Before I Return to the Earth
My emotions fell silent years ago,
Like rivers that forgot where they should flow.
No resurrection do I wait to see,
Just thoughts that never set me free.
***
The mind still speaks, the burdens stay,
While time steals another day.
My hair turns grey, my strength may fade,
And life moves on, as all things must.
***
I know my days are not my own,
No soul can claim time as a throne.
So before I turn to dust once more,
I ask what I was living for.
***
Must I exist for myself alone?
Chase fleeting dreams and call them home?
Or can I give, before I depart,
Something that matters beyond my heart?
***
I seek no crown, no immortal name,
No worldly praise, no lasting fame.
I seek a path that does no harm,
A truth that holds, a purpose calm.
***
If Nature speaks, I wish to hear;
If Earth needs care, I wish to be near.
If God has woven a greater design,
Let my purpose somehow align.
***
I have weighed the truth, the wrong, the right,
Through endless thought and sleepless night.
I stand with courage, firm and clear,
Not ruled by comfort, doubt, or fear.
***
Yet I am small, and may not know
The full design of all that grows.
So let me stand, but still be wise,
With open hands and open eyes.
***
For I do not merely wish to live,
Nor take from life all it can give.
I want my presence here on Earth
To leave behind some trace of worth.
***
And when at last my days are done,
When I return to dust and sun,
Let not my life be measured by its length,
But by the purpose it gave me strength to fulfill.
***
I do not ask for endless days,
Nor seek the world to know my name.
I ask to live in truth, in meaningful ways-
And leave the Earth better than when I came.
