Paris at My Feet

Let me tell you briefly what I saw

When I climbed the majestic tower of iron.

If you ever reach the heart of Paris,

Look down upon the world and be amazed!

Elevators glide swiftly up the latticed steel,

As the bustle of the ground slowly fades away.

Wide avenues fan out like spokes on a wheel,

And the sprawling city unfolds beneath your feet.

Toy-like cars and buses crawl along the roads,

Tiny people walk through the distant streets.

Grand limestone facades line the grand boulevards,

Forming perfect geometric patterns in the light.

From high above, the river Seine winds gently,

A ribbon of silver cutting through the city,

Spanned by elegant stone and iron bridges,

Where tiny riverboats leave soft white wakes.

Looking out toward the glowing horizon,

Notre-Dame sits quietly upon its island,

The Louvre stretches its ancient wings,

And Sacré-Cœur shines bright atop its hill.

When the evening arrives atop the tower,

The air turns cool and the breeze blows free.

A sea of golden lights begins to flicker,

Transforming the skyline into a ocean of stars.

The powerful beacon sweeps across the dark,

As millions of tiny lights sparkle around you.

Tourists from every land stand side by side,

Gazing in wonder at the illuminated world.

There are so many breathtaking views

That no photograph could ever truly capture.

From the top of the Eiffel Tower,

Paris reveals itself as a timeless city of light.
