The Road Beyond Shadows

Shadows may wander and drift away,

Yet one companion is bound to stay-

Silent, patient, beyond all claim,

Death remembers each of our names.

He comes not early, nor lingers near,

But arrives in the hour both solemn and clear;

A mystic guide with an unseen hand,

Leading us toward an unknown land.

Once upon his chariot we ride,

Past memory's shores and time's fading tide,

The stories we carried, the joys and the pain,

Dissolve like mist in a gentle rain.

~~***~~

We entered this world with empty hands,

And leave the same, as destiny commands;

No treasure follows, no title remains,

Only the soul beyond earthly chains.

Time has tethered life with cords unseen,

Woven from deeds and all that has been;

Yet why do we quarrel, why strive and contend,

When every journey approaches its end?

The wealth we gathered, the things we adored,

Are measured and shared by those left ashore;

What once seemed lasting fades from sight,

Like distant stars swallowed by night.

So let us wait for the radiant way,

The path of light beyond decay;

Toward realms where worthy spirits rise,

Among eternal and watchful skies.

May guiding hands lift us higher still,

Beyond the reach of desire and will;

And may the soul, through trial and flame,

Emerge transformed, yet not the same.

Like gold refined in a furnace bright,

Forged through darkness, tempered by light,

May we become, through all we've known,

A sharper spirit, fully grown.

For death is not the final door,

But a passage to something more-

A voyage beyond what eyes can see,

Toward the soul's unfolding destiny.

  Silent depths of my troubled nights, I seek the dawn’s forgiving light, A refuge in the Buddha’s grace, A gentle rain upon this place.   I ask to see with mindful sight, To walk the path of truth and right, Where hatred fades, where anger ceases, And loving-kindness slowly increases.   May compassion’s waters freely flow, Healing wounds I dare not show, Turning my deserts into springs, From selfless deeds, let peace take wings.   I bow in humble reverence true, To wisdom’s jewel, serene and pure, To peace born when desires end, To hearts that forgive, to hands that mend.   My voice rises as a tender song, Offering my heart where it belongs, Oh, lamp of Dharma, calm and clear, Guide my steps when fear draws near.   In darkness dense and heavy-laden, When grief has left my spirit shaken, Teach me suffering’s passing way, That all things change, none ever stay.   Pour your mercy like gentle rain, Not with wrath, not with di...

We burned like stars in distant skies, Where longing made the silence wise. Each word, a spark — each pause, a prayer, We loved like those who couldn’t dare. But pockets strained, and dreams grew thin, And hunger knocked its way within. The rent unpaid, the hope on lease, Our kisses bought a moment's peace. No ledger kept, no figures faced, Just silent hope, silently erased. The burden heavy, held by none, Until the battle was unwon. You stayed, I stayed — not out of choice, But debt had dimmed our inner voice. No fights, no flames, just unpaid dues, And love became a thing we’d lose. No iron bound these tired hands, But promises and small demands. The freedom sold to bills and bread, The fire cold, the laughter dead.   Thoughts tumble like leaves in the wind, unruly and scattered along the path, while I grip the reins, steadying a creature tethered to instinct. A dance between the two of us, each surge beneath the saddle, a question unanswered. I ask myself, on this familiar track, Why does my mind so quick to turn its back? Why do I think unnecessarily, as the world rushes by in a blur of green and gold? Do the reins pull tighter when my mind wanders? A silent language, a signal to the horse, unseen yet felt in every heartbeat. Does the mind know the running horse I touch, or is it lost and feeling far too much? Your silence, a language I come to know- Not just absence, but the depths you show.   You walk away, and I stand still, Listening for echoes I can’t will. My tears fall softly, unspoken, unseen, Waiting for a voice that might have been.   You think strength is hiding away, But silence can be a storm in disarray. It’s the crack in the armor, the fragile break, The silent ache you choose not to fake.   When I cry, I need your hand- Not silence, not a distant stand.
