The Golden Vigil

Small paws, bright eyes, beneath my mane,

New life awakened on the open plain.

You press to me, my living art,

My roaring blood, my beating heart.

Your laughter comes in playful cries,

A sacred sound beneath wide skies.

This land is ours, both fierce and fair,

And I will guard you everywhere.

Your spirits run both wild and free,

Yet what you’ll be begins with me.

I teach you strength, I teach you grace,

How to stand firm, how to face.

No harm will reach you while I stand,

By moonlit hunt or blazing land.

Your innocence is fierce and small,

I am the shield against it all.

Sleep safely now, my golden ones,

Beneath the stars, beneath the suns.

Let love be law, let courage hum-

For I am here. No fear will come.
