Refusal to Fade

I refuse to fade away,

To become one with yesterday,

I want my mark to carve the sky,

A lasting flame that will not die.

Beneath the quiet shadows of forgotten souls,

Lingers the silent echo of stories untold -

People who once walked through this world,

Their footsteps soft, their presence curled

Into corners where no eyes would see,

Into moments lost to memory.

I wonder about those who lived this way,

Leaving no trace along their day,

No mark, no name, no voice to find -

Only the fading hum of a quiet mind.

They never intruded, never caused pain,

Carried their burdens in silent strain,

Gave up their joy for another’s sake,

Their kindness hidden, their hearts at stake.

Invisible angels in human skin,

Who kept their sorrow folded within.

And in the end, they slipped away,

Forgotten beneath the world’s cold sway -

Left alone in shadows deep,

Where memories vanish and stories sleep.

No photograph to call them back,

No heartbeat tracing their silent track.

So many souls who once stood bright,

Later dissolved into nameless night -

Shadows lost in the dusk’s embrace,

Echoes erased without a trace.

But here we stand, with hearts aflame,

Unwilling to vanish without a name.

We refuse to fade like whispers in air,

To be lost in time as if we weren’t there.

We vow to carve our mark in the sky,

A living flame that will not die.

For what is life but a fleeting breath,

A spark of brilliance defying death?

Yet deep within, a fire remains -

A hunger to break these silent chains.

We crave a legacy deep and true,

A voice that echoes long after we’re through;

A story of courage, of love, of grace -

A shining testament in time and space.

Let us not be forgotten dust,

Nor quiet souls betrayed by trust,

But ones who dared to stand and say:

I will not disappear today.

So walk with purpose, wild and free,

Plant your seed of eternity -

Not only in days that rise and fall,

But in the hearts that remember us all.

For in the end, when time moves on,

What remains is the light we’ve shone -

A legacy of hope, of truth, of song,

That keeps us alive when we are gone.

And  I refuse to fade away,

To become one with yesterday,

I want my mark to carve the sky,

A lasting flame that will not die.
