Divergent Hearts

I whisper softly, yet doubts whisper louder,

"I love you," a fragile sound in the wind,

A spark that flickers in the shadows of my mind,

Questioning if this fire can truly burn bright.

"I for you," I try to hold the pieces together,

A vow made in moments of hope and fear,

But beneath the surface, cracks begin to show,

And I wonder if I am enough, or just enough for now.

In the quiet moments when words fall silent,

The space between us grows like an unspoken chasm,

"We are one," once a promise so strong,

Now feels like a distant echo, fading into the dawn.

Yet, in my heart lingers a quiet truth-

We are not one, no, we are apart,

Two separate souls, drifting in different streams,

Connected by memories, but distant in dreams.

Love’s gentle thread begins to fray,

Tangled with doubt, woven with fear,

I ask myself if love can survive this divide,

Or if we are merely shadows passing through the night.

Am I holding on to a fading dream,

A hope that once was vivid and true,

Or is there still a chance to find our way-

To bridge the chasm, and renew what’s broken?

I stand here, torn between longing and retreat,

Yearning for certainty in a world so unsure,

And though I hesitate, I still hope to believe-

That love, even fragile, can still endure.
