The Silent Witness

I have no words left to utter,

No visions remain that I long to see.

Today, my eyes reject the world,

My ears deny its endless cries,

And every thirst within me

Has dried like a forsaken riverbed beneath a dying sky.

***

For Time now rushes through the earth

Like a flood gone rabid in the monsoon night-

Mud-stained, furious, uncontained-

Dragging shattered truths, broken prayers,

And the corpses of forgotten hopes

Through the veins of humanity.

***

Before my eyes

March the masquerades of invisible horrors,

Faces painted with virtue,

Hands dripping with hidden cruelty.

Their voices rise like funeral drums,

Piercing the ear,

Splitting the heart open

Like lightning tearing through an ancient tree.

***

Though wisdom survives in books,

Though knowledge glitters in proud tongues,

Men intoxicated by power

Roam like maddened tuskers in heat,

Stampeding beneath flags of a thousand colors,

Each cloth stitched with division,

Each slogan another wound upon the sky.

***

Blood-hungry wolves

Crown themselves as saviors,

While turning the innocent

Into martyrs for their feast.

And the crowds-

Like moths bewitched by poisoned fire-

Dance willingly toward their own burning.

***

In darkness, imagination breeds;

And in darkness, it is fed.

Crooked alleys birth false prophets,

While dimmed lamps guide travelers

Not toward dawn,

But deeper into caverns of shadow.

***

Oh,My distant unhered  Light-

Have you too betrayed us?

Have you chosen a throne beside the dark?

Have you become merely another lantern

Leading the blind toward the abyss?

***

Oh,Silent Light,

Upon your straight and sacred path,

Where did your gravity first bend?

At what unseen moment

Did your radiance fall in love

With the black hole’s endless hunger?

***

A single human may possess reason,

Yet a hundred together

Become a storm of frightened beasts.

For crowds forget the soul of man

As oceans forget the calm beneath their waves.

***

People may still be good at heart,

Yet public minds run wild

Through forests of savage thought,

Like horses terrified by thunder,

Breaking every boundary

In blind and breathless panic.

***

And so,

I no longer wish to write.

No song remains within my chest,

No dance survives within my bones.

The world has exhausted even silence.

***

Now I remain only

A breathing shadow,

A living corpse with shuttered eyes,

Walking through the ruins of noise

Like the final witness

After the apocalypse of meaning.

***

And in this age

Where truth itself wears chains,

I choose no anthem,

No banner,

No applause.

***

Only silence-

Deep, endless silence-

As the night chooses the graveyard,

As the moon watches ruined temples,

As a dead star still burns

In the memory of distant skies.
