A Truth in Shadows
A truth in shadows, softly spoken,
A heart unguarded, yet unbroken.
In quiet acceptance of what is real,
Lies the strength to truly heal.
We learn that some bonds are fleeting,
Like autumn leaves, retreating.
Not every promise is meant to stay,
Some hearts simply drift away.
Roots find soil where love is found,
Where kindness whispers all around.
Not in the thorns of neglect or pain,
But where compassion’s gentle rain
Nurtures growth, and hope takes flight,
Turning darkness into light.
I choose to live among those who see,
Who reach for me authentically.
Who keep a space, a sacred door,
Where love can flourish, soar, explore.
For there my energy freely flows,
Where true connection truly grows.
When someone turns away in disregard,
I hear the message, I guard my heart hard.
"There is no place for you here," they say,
And though it stings, I walk away.
My eyes may fill, my heart may ache,
But I refuse to bend or break.
To turn from those who turn from me,
Is not revenge—it is self’s decree.
A shield for peace, for dignity,
A stand for my sovereignty.
I honor myself with gentle grace,
In sacred self-respect’s embrace.
No longer will I chase or plead,
Love’s not a hunger, nor a need.
It’s a gift, a sacred art,
Given freely, heart to heart.
I open doors that welcome me,
To spaces where I am truly free.
Some doors must close, so new ones shine,
Brighter, bolder, more divine.
And in that closing, I find my way,
To brighter mornings, a brand-new day.
For love will come when I am ready,
In spaces warm, and steady.
So I stand tall, with gentle might,
Embracing shadows, welcoming light.
In acceptance, I am whole,
And in my heart, I find my soul.
